OBITUARY OF ROSA MAE McARTOR SUBLETT

 

 

Rosa Mae McArtor Sublett was born November 28, 1923 in Pryor to John and Ozella (Gore) Littlefield.  She departed this life on March 7, 2010 in Pryor at the age of 86 years 3 months and 17 days.

              Rosa Mae was born east of Pryor and attended Cole School until the third grade.  She then attended Pryor schools and graduated from Pryor High School with the class of 1940.  After school Rosa Mae worked at the First National Bank.  She was married to Mutt McArtor in 1942.  They moved to Little Rock , where Mutt was stationed, and she worked at Worthen Bank.  When he was sent overseas, Rosa Mae moved back to Pryor and went to work in the payroll department for DuPont (Powder Plant).  Rosa Mae went to work at the Assessors Office in 1948 and was later elected Mayes County Assessor.  She worked at the court house for over 40 years.  At the time of Rosa Mae’s retirement Channel 2 did a feature on her and her many years at the court house. She served as Secretary-Treasurer and Vice-President of the State County Assessors Association and also Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-President of the State County Officers and Deputies Association.

              She was a member of the First United Methodist Church , and was very active in the youth program.  After the death of Mutt, Rosa Mae married Vernon Sublett and they moved to Chouteau and were members of the Methodist Church in Chouteau.  Rosa Mae enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cooking for her family.  He pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.  She was a wonderful person who never met a stranger and loved to visit with everyone.

              Rosa Mae is survived by daughter Jan Fleak of Muskogee, son Ed McArtor and wife Annette of Nowata, five grandchildren Steven and Tami Fleak, Gina and Dr. Michael Daugherty, Kristi and Charles Olzawski, Micah and Kendall Fleak, Jamee and John Winzenburg, 9 great grandchildren, Paden and Joshua Fleak, Blake, Drew and Trey Daugherty, Caleb and Carter Olzawski, Shelbie and Savanna Winzenburg.  She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Charles “Mutt” McArtor, second husband Vernon Sublett, 2 brothers, great-grandaughter Kayla Mae Fleak.
